Fence Material Calculator
Enter the fence dimensions and settings below. If you check “Enclose Perimeter,” the calculator uses both length and width to compute an enclosed fence. Otherwise, it assumes you only need a single run based on the length dimension. Provide your post spacing, panel length, waste percentage, and the cost details to see total posts, total panels, and estimated cost.
About Our Free Fence Material Calculator
Quickly estimate how many posts and panels you’ll need for your fence, whether enclosing a full rectangular area or building a single fence run. Add a waste percentage to account for cutoffs or mistakes, then input the cost per post and panel to see an approximate total cost.
How It Works (Simplified):
- 1. If “Enclose Perimeter” is checked, total fence length is \(2 \times (\text{length} + \text{width})\). Otherwise, only length is used.
- 2. We convert dimensions to feet and multiply the total fence length by \(\bigl(1 + \frac{\text{waste}}{100}\bigr)\).
- 3. Posts Needed = \(\lceil \frac{\text{fence length}}{\text{post spacing}} \rceil\)
- 4. Panels Needed = \(\lceil \frac{\text{fence length}}{\text{panel length}} \rceil\)
- 5. Total cost = (posts × cost per post) + (panels × cost per panel).
