Gravel / Aggregate Calculator
Enter the dimensions for the area you plan to fill with gravel or aggregate. Choose your measurement units, provide a waste percentage, and optionally calculate cost based on either cubic yards or tons. We assume an average density of about 1.4 tons per cubic yard. Adjust the inputs to suit your needs.
About Our Free Gravel / Aggregate Calculator
Whether you’re laying a new driveway or planning a landscaping project, our Gravel / Aggregate Calculator helps you quickly estimate how many cubic yards and how many tons of material you’ll need. The calculator also provides an estimated cost if you enter a price per cubic yard or per ton.
How It Works (Simplified):
- 1. We convert length, width, and depth to feet, then compute cubic feet. Dividing by 27 gives cubic yards.
- 2. We multiply by \(\bigl(1 + \tfrac{\text{waste}}{100}\bigr)\) to account for extra material needs.
- 3. Estimated tons = cubic yards × ~1.4 (average density factor).
- 4. Cost can be calculated either per cubic yard or per ton, based on your selection and the cost you enter.
